You may catch these at the central bus station at Piccadilly Gardens. Please inform the bus driver that you wish to get off at the beginning of Platt Fields Park or outside the Finglands bus station, Platt Lane is straight opposite the Finglands bus station and we are situated approx. 150 yards on your right. To reach us by car from city centre, on A34 Princess Street (south) turn right (west) onto Charles Street, turn left (south-east) onto Oxford Road, road name changes to B5117 Oxford Road for about 1 mile; keep straight onto B5117 Wilmslow Road for about 0.5 mile, at the left side of the traffic lights you will see a pub called 'Hardy's Well' turn right (west) onto Platt Lane. If you inform the driver you wish to get off at the end of Platt Fields Park (opposite the Finglands bus station) on Wilmslow Road at the junction with Platt Lane, we are situated approx. 150 yards on your right. To reach us by car from the airport, follow the exit sign to merge onto M56 for about 2.5 miles towards M56 / M62 / M60 / M67 / Manchester / Leeds / Stockport / Sheffield. The road name changes to A5103 Princess Parkway for about 3 miles, follow the signs to Manchester City Centre. At the junction A5103 Princess Road and A6010 Wilbraham Road you will see 'Whalley Range high school for girls' on the left side of the traffic lights, turn right (east) onto A6010 , follow A6010 turn left (north) onto Wilmslow Road, when you reach the end of the Platt Fields Park (opposite the Finglands bus station and Hand Car Wash) turn left (west) onto Platt Lane. Transport Metroshuttle: a free city centre bus network, links the city's rail and tram stations, main car parks and shopping areas. Buses operate on two routes, Monday-Saturday 7am - 7pm and Sunday 10am - 6pm. Route 1 buses (orange) run on a loop every five minutes from Piccadilly rail station to the heart of the city via Chinatown, Albert Square/Town Hall, Deansgate, Kendals, the Triangle, Arndale Centre, Marks & Spencer and Selfridges. Route 2 buses (green) operate on a loop every ten minutes from Victoria Station to Deansgate, G-Mex, Albert Square, Manchester Art Gallery, Chinatown, University, Oxford Road Station, Castlefield, Marks & Spencer, Arndale Centre, Triangle, Printworks and Urbis. Rail: Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria are the city's two main rail stations. They are supported by Oxford Road, Deansgate and Salford Central stations. They also connect the city centre with Altrincham in the south, Bury in the north and Salford Quays and Eccles in the west. Coaches: National buses connect Manchester with the rest of the country. National Express operates a nationwide coach service out of the Chorlton Street Bus Station. Taxis: Hackney Cabs (or black cabs) can be hailed in the streets, while private hire (or mini cabs) must be booked in advance. Car rental: There are a number of car hire companies (including Avis, Hertz, and Budget Rent a Car) at Manchester Airport and in the city centre. You do not need an international driving license to rent a car (as long as your license includes a clear description in English), but you must be 21 and over. A few tips on driving in the U.K.: Remember to drive on the left. The national speed limit is 30 mph in built up areas and 40 mph - 70 mph on other roads. The motorway speed limit is 70 mph. You must wear seatbelts front and rear. Finally, do not drink and drive -it is very dangerous and there are severe penalties for driving over the limit. Making a phone call: The code for international calls is 00. Area codes in the UK start with 01 or 02. The area code for Manchester is 0161 and for London 020.
